Profile

Elizabeth Turner began her dance training in her hometown of New Orleans at Giacobbe Academy of Dance. While in New Orleans, she performed with Delta Festival Ballet under the direction of Joseph Giacobbe and in several productions for the New Orleans Ballet under the direction of Harvey Hysell. She continued her studies with a scholarship in dance at the University of Utah and earned her BFA and MFA degrees from the Department of Ballet with an emphasis on ballet pedagogy.

Elizabeth’s passion has always been teaching and in her 30 years as a dance educator she has taught for both professional and private dance academies including the School of the Richmond Ballet and Richmond Dance Center as well as for major universities such as the University of Utah, the University of Richmond and Virginia Commonwealth University. She believes that dance is an art form that should be accessible to everyone and she is delighted that her former students can be found in the ranks of professional dance companies, at leading arts institutions and in a wide range of artistic, educational and athletic fields.
